OK – so wifeypoo has now hacked into my account and is posting on my behalf….I keep telling her that once we “get settled”, I’ll collect my thoughts, get organized, and start writing. Fortunately, she is a wise caring soul who knows me too well. She has also mastered the art of mind reading and has eyes in the back of her head…
Our reaching goal is to design our life with maximizing adventure, experiences, and time with our family, parents, and siblings’ families in mind!
Not to bore y’all (if Guyon were actually writing this he would use these southern slangs) with all the details, but the MoFAP is central to getting our show on the road. The above quote was a mission statement if you will, on how we want to be in this world. There is a song by Dawes (can’t remember the name, but JJRM will have it) with a line, “if you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there.” This philosophy is at the core of the MoFAP. Once we knew that we really wanted to commit to taking the fam on this crazy adventure, we needed a vehicle (metaphorical) to get us there. Apparently it is not prudent to wake up on Monday, and set sail the next day…..especially if you have a home, business, kids, dogs, and stuff for which you are responsible…..
Aside from providing a timeline for transitioning out of “normal” life in Key Largo and onto the “crazy” chapter, the MoFAP was a declaration. We put onto paper (it was literally push-pinned on the wall next to the little league schedule and Angler’s Club Calendar) our intentions/plans/goals for how we were going to do this and then sent it out to family & friends. Big audacious goals….and now other people know…..so we gotta go for it. For us it was not just about planning a sailing circumnavigation, but it turned into long-term planning for where and how we wanted to live our lives over the next 20 years.
