Okay, I haven’t written a blog in awhile because I didn’t have Internet in the middle of the Atlantic. I’m writing about an incident that occurred before we left for Bermuda last May.
My Dad was taking people up the mast in a bosun’s chair. Gordon was the first to go up. Then Adelaide, and then me. Adelaide is a close friend from Virginia. She and her father were going on a leg from Tortola to Bermuda with us. When Gordon got down my Dad saw a piece of hair stuck in the pulley system that looked suspiciously like Gordon’s hair. As it turns out, it was Gordon’s hair. It had gotten caught when he was being hoisted up the mast. Since Adelaide was next and she had even longer hair than Gordon’s, it got my Mom a little scared. she asked Adelaide if she needed a pony tail. Adelaide said no, but I guess she didn’t realize how much she was going to regret that decision… It happened when she was coming down the mast. At first, when we heard her “WOAH!” we thought it was a small lock of her hair that had gotten caught. We tried moving her up and down the mast to see if it would help, but only made things worse. At the end, we needed to throw a line with scissors tied on so that she could cut the lock off. When she finally got down she showed us the huge lock of hair. Now, finally it was my turn. Now before I tell you this part I should tell you this: I’m scared of heights. I got up in the bosun’s chair because I thought I might like the view but when they started hoisting me up, I started having second thoughts. I could only imagine myself falling, flailing my arms, and ending up as a tiny smear on the deck below. When I reached the top it wasn’t too bad. I imagined I was sitting on a chair on a patio. I could see every boat in the harbor. It was really windy up there.
Okay I’m probably boring you, but before I stop I have a riddle. Whoever answers it correctly wins the prize of… nothing! Okay here you go!
What is everywhere, makes some people uncomfortable and can always be heard yet never makes a sound? Answer in the comments!

Great writing job, David . I love the fact that you write in your own voice – not many folks can do that. Super story – keep writing! Riddle is a puzzle – hope you will share the answer. Hugs, Sheesh
